I get one heck of an interference on my TV from the local taxis as they use their radios (i live next to a main road).

Pleas help it is driving me NUTS!!!! thanks!
I can actually hear what they say and where they are going whilst the TV goes into white noise.
Thanks for your answers, but i DO use Digital TV, though with an indoor aerial.

Hiya !

One solution would be to use a couple of ferrite rings in your aerial lead – something like these from Maplin Electronics…

Just wait until TV goes digital then you won’t hear any of them.

Taking potshots out your window is generally frowned upon by the authorities. It may therefore be better to visit your local electronics retailer and ask if you can purchase any kind of suppressor for your TV aerial that will eliminate this radio interference.

Since it sounds like you are still using analog TV, the best thing you can do is to go to any electronics store and get a digital converter box that you will need before the June 12 signal switch. The signals are purely digital and not subject to the analog interference from radios. Not only will this eliminate the interference but your picture will be a lot better as well.

report the taxi firm to Ofcom – chances are they haven’t filtered their radios as per the Wireless Telegraphy Act (or are using equipment not approved for use in the UK) – and if so, they are in breach of the law – they’ll quickly sort it once and for all or risk a biiiiiiig fine!

Ferrite rings will choke out the desired signal as well as the undesired. More info is needed. Which channels on the TV? Are the cabs on lo VHF, Hi VHF, UHF or what? What country are you in? (That determines the type of TV signal) FIlters on your set may help, but if multiple cabs are causing interference it’s not likely their fault. Do police cars, business radios and others also interfere?
