Can radio stations tell if you are tunning out of their frequency?

I’m just wondering because the extremely irritating TECATE LIGHT commercials really tick me off. Whenever that commercial comes up I either switch the radio off or tune onto another station. I guess I’m hoping enough people do this so that radio stations see that people are getting fed up with TECATE LIGHT.

…TECATE LIGHT.

If you are in the US and taking part in an Arbitron PPM survey – yes. Otherwise (and this is 99%) no.

UNLESS it’s Sirius or XM, in which case they might be able to track listening that closely.

I’ve found that when a commercial offends me, a letter (or email) to the advertising dept. or Investor reations dept. will register on their radar. See below.

I believe that this is only possible if the listener has digital radio (DAB+) otherwise I don’t think that analog signals can be monitored to track who is listening to which radio station. Hope this helps

Duh got me, I was gonna say yes and we’ve been watching you….

Normally though with the PPMs they get the info a month too late, usually after the ad has run it’s course. A note like Duh said or a note to the Office of the radio station may help, but normally unless many hate it, you will just have to run it’s course due to people listening as a whole may not mind it even though it’s stupid
