There are a LOT of legal issues going on right now that make running a station less and less attractive. If you're looking to start a station whose format is talk, you might have better fortune. The RIAA is trying to squeeze a lot of money out of broadcasters (for which they are already paying royalties per play) than they are already getting. There is talk of a 200% or better markup in the months to come. To configure your PC, you'll also need to know a little about TCP/IP. Your best bet for starting is to try Live365 or Shoutcast. They're the best free resources for aspiring broadcasters.
