Any online radio station that plays only music in German?

June 7, 2011 - 9:30 pm 1 Comment

I took a class in german last semester and to help me not forget what I learned I wanted to listen to some german radio. But it seems most online stations play english music half the time. I was wondering if anyone knew any that played exclusively music in German.

Danke!

just go on itunes or youtube and look up german songs, then either get it on ur ipod or upload it onto a CD or something.

Why can’t online radio broadcasts be listened to outside of the US?

March 4, 2011 - 9:00 am 2 Comments

Why can’t radio broadcast online be used outside the US? I tried to tap into the Cincinnati Reds game online broadcast and got denied because I live in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and not within the continental US. Seems like a pointless restriction to me. Anybody know why this type of broadcast would be prohibited? Thanks!

Blame US copyright laws and the cost of bandwidth.

What Flavor of linux to serve Online Radio?

I want to start an online radio station using icecast as my server software and winamp/oddcast as my streamer. I already know that I’m going to stream with Win and Serve with Ubuntu, but I’m having a bit of trouble figuring out if I should use Ubuntu server edition, desktop edition or a completely different flavor of linux all together. What should I use?

I host an internet radio station on winamp too and I use Ubuntu Server 10.04. If all you’re going to use it for is the radio station then that’s your best bet. Just install Ubuntu Server Edition, install the winamp server and save your music you want to stream.

Good Luck and Enjoy!
