Sometimes…. Radio stations on the net can be dedicated to just music. For example, Pandora streams only music to your computer.
Then again, if you listen to ESPN live, you will have commercials.
It really depends on the configuration and licensing agreements of the station that you’re listening to. Also, some stations stay afloat because of commercials, seeing as those whose commercials air have to pay money in order to do so. This means more $$$ in the radio station’s pocket.

Yes, most of the big radio stations have commercials, It is a good way of earning money to the radio stations and it is what keeps them up and running, unless it is an indie radio stations.

hi there.
If you stream commercial radio on the net instead of tuning in via radio, then the content is identical.
So if there are commercials, then you hear them.
You can easily check this by streaming your favourite local commercial station right now!
There are net-only operations running, but that is not what you mean by "live" radio, so you can include that as a subsection of your project if you choose (e.g. you can stream BBC radio stations online and there will be no commercials).
Good luck, Steve.
