What Radio communications do the Police use to respond to calls?

You know how you see the police talk into the radios they have clipped on to their belt or that sits in their car? Is that a CB or a Ham Radio? Or is it something else? I would appreciate it if you could answer if you have the law enforcement experience or are related to somebody who is law enforcement.

My county dispatch recently switched to 800Mhz. Other places I have worked transmitted on 400Mhz and although it’s a dinosaur by comparison, 150Mhz. These are all FM frequencies.

Im trying to find where I can listen to dodger games online. Kabc 790 is the station. If you go to their website it says something Else is playing "live" which is BS because I get into my car and its dodger baseball. Where can I listen to LIVE broadcasts online?

Is there a way to listen to archive radio recordings of Radio Moscow or Radio Berlin International?

I’ve been doing some work on the cold war and have found small snip-its of the english (and for Radio Berlin, German) versions of these stations from the period – is anyone aware of a site where you can access these or any other cold war radio recordings (ie: Radio Prague, Bucharest..)

I have created a radio station. I will play mostly electronic and hip hop music, and it will not be functional 24/7. Is there any place I can advertise it for free? or any kind of listing I can put up for it?
Hmm twitter and facebook seem like a no-no most of my friends don’t like electronic music.

I have the Home Edition. I am trying to save music from the internet radio to my Library. Thanks for detailed instructions. I cant understand how.

Since the radio is streaming you cannot download the songs with your native Windows 7 programs.

Please give 7 or 8 examples of bands not just a genre (e.g. "Radiohead, The Beatles" etc. NOT "jazz" or "rock".)

(And I can’t just tune into 6 Music because I don’t have a radio so streaming media i.e. radio is blocked)

I’m looking for the answer to this question too, intrigued by the BBC’s latest proposal to terminate broadcast.

SO FAR I am very impressed and think it would be a great loss.

Genres seem to include new age, progressive, cutting-edge rock/indie styles, perhaps even electronic. Also includes iconic bands from the last 40 years ( so i can imagine The Smiths or The Beatles are played)

I am most impressed by them recently airing an in-session by Interpol! Doesn’t get any cooler!

So in conclusion, Radio 6 play all genres of rock from the last 40 years, and air bands at the cutting edge of modern day rock. Sounds a little like XFM no?

What is the cheapest way to get streaming radio?

I live in a remote rural area with no radio reception. I do have internet however, and since there are many stations streaming online, I could connect with a "whole house transmitter" which would rebroadcast the station so that I could receive it with various radios in the house. My question is: What is the best way to get a continuous streaming signal, 24/7? I don’t want to but a computer to use solely for this task, and most of the internet radios that I have read about don’t have good reviews. Any Ideas?

theres a great media player out there that i use called Winamp and one of the things it has is an internet radio streaming function, it has AOL radio and Shoutcast radio and both have tons of stations to choose from, i prefer AOL radio because it comes with a lot more channel options.
