What radios work on a Motorola type II Smartzone system?

January 13, 2010 - 8:25 am 1 Comment

Trying to figure out what radios work on Motorola type II Smartzone systems? Handheld radios to be specific. Also what are the easiest to program and find software for?
What model and type Motorola radios work on a Motorola Type II Smartzone system? Like the MTS2000 Handheld. What others are compatible.

Only Motorola radios. I used to work in two-way and Motorola usually got something in that was proprietary so you could only use Motorola in the system. I’d be willing to bet this system is this way. Even in the "open source" APCO 25 system, they’d sell the customer on a proprietary feature so they’d have to buy Motorola if they wanted to use that feature on the radio.

Does anyone know the best place to get cb radios at?

I was wondering where the best place was to buy cb radios at. You know like the ones truckers have in there rigs.

Truck stops, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart, as well as a lot of other places that carry consumer electronics.

What headphones work with Binatone Terrain 550 radios?

December 21, 2009 - 12:02 am 1 Comment

I am looking into buying some Binatone Terrain 550 radios but only if i can find compatible head phones for them. I don’t believe they have standard headphone jacks. If anyone knows of any headphones / adapters that work with them i would be grateful for any information.

I think there has been a similar question to this but the link was too old.

Regards

Your best bet would be to ask a stockist.

Can I program 2 way radios that were not sold in the same pack to communicate together?

December 18, 2009 - 5:13 am 3 Comments

We need 4 two way radios but they only come in 2 packs. What do I do?

You don’t need to "program" them as such, just set them to the same channel and privacy code, that’s all.

Such radios have no real security as cordless phones do.

How do radios get requested songs so fast?

December 15, 2009 - 2:39 pm 2 Comments

When people call in and ask for a song that they want to be played by the radio, how do the people at the radio station manage to find and play that song in less than 2 seconds after the person says it???

Also, do radios have every song possible? because lots of times I haven’t even heard of those songs.

They record the person talking on the phone and then they like play the recording of the phone call on the station.

I think they have most songs.

What are the brand and model numbers of the clock radios in Summit rooms at that Grand Sierra Resort in Reno.?

December 12, 2009 - 11:08 pm 1 Comment

These clock radios have two fairly large speakers on the sides. Button on top is snooze/backlight. External jack hooks up to devices such as mp3 players. AM/FM. Most importantly these units play sounds… 4 types of preprogrammed songs (jazz, guitar, spa and something else) as well as preprogrammed nature sounds (surf, rain, babbling brook and white noise). Perhaps you’ve not been to this hotel but the unit still sounds familiar to you.

Contact the hotel.

Sometimes they use stuff that is not available to the general public because the manufacturers sell them a different version.

Good luck.

Where is a cheap place to buy 2-way radios?

December 10, 2009 - 9:39 am 4 Comments

I am talking about the, Kenwood type radios, the professional ones.

If your looking for the Gmrs stuff, then your best bet is the "bubble" pack radios avail at Target or walmart. My family owns a Motorola shop (MSS) and we do offer the kenwood radios you are asking about. You are wanting commercial grade radios. Kenwood has a web site that you can browse the radios they offer and get a list price. This will give you a feeling of what you will pay. Their web site is kenwoodusa.com
Good luck

If 4 radios are selected for display, what is the probability that 2 of them are defective?

December 5, 2009 - 5:56 am 1 Comment

A dept. store recieves shipment of 23 new radios. There are 5 defective in the shipment. If 4 radios are selected for display, what is the probability that 2 of them are defective?

The number of ways to select the two defective is:
5C2 = 5! / (2!3!)

The number of ways to select the two non-defective is:
18C2 = 18! / (2!16!).

The total number of ways to select 4 radios out of 23 is:
23C4 = 23! / (4!19!)

Multiply and divide to get the probability:
= (5C2)(18C2) / (23C4)
= (10)(153) / (8855)
= 306 / 1771 = .17278373800113

The answer is approximately .17278 or 17.3%

Good luck in your studies,
