What causes the radio in a clock radio to come on by itself?

February 16, 2010 - 3:26 pm 1 Comment

I use the alarm every day but never the radio. It’s never set on "radio."

It’s happened when I’m in the room, so I know nothing / no one has disturbed the clock radio before it pops on. It just sits there quietly for hours and then suddenly comes on by itself.

When the radio pops on, it’s at totally random times which are never in sync with the programmed alarm time.

You probably have a bad radio. If the times are at random you need to take it back to the store. :)

When Radio Stations give out tickets for a concert, Are they usually good seats?

February 11, 2010 - 10:07 pm 3 Comments

I won tickets for my sister to go see Britney Spears this March by calling in a radio station and naming the 5 songs they played. She is planning to buy extra tickets because she doesnt know if the ones I won from the radio station are good seats. Does anyone know? Anyone with expirience?

I had a friend who won tix twice and took me (Dave Matthews Band and 311), we had really good seats at both shows.

What conservative radio talk show host made a big issue out of the word "progressive" today?

February 7, 2010 - 2:19 am 20 Comments

Today, all of a sudden, the word "progressive" has become the conservatives’ all-purpose devil term to describe people they disagree with.

Which radio talk show host targeted that word today?

Glenn Beck has done a lot of shows about Progressives.

What would cause the radio in my truck to stop working one day?

January 31, 2010 - 3:07 am 6 Comments

I have a 96 dodge dakota and for some reason when I went out to start it today there was no power going to the radio. The clock didnt even work on it. I did check the fuse and it looked fine, so I just put it back in..What would cause the radio to just stop working?
It is a stock radio and no I havent tampered with anything. Is there a fuse behind the unit possibly?

replace the fuse, sometimes fuses look good but it might have a small break in it, if it’s not that I would look for a shorted or broken wire to the radio.

January 13, 2010 - 8:25 am 1 Comment

I have a gateway laptop model number MX6128 and it is not letting me connect to internet. When I try it tells me that the radio is disabled, that I need to enable the radio control switch. I have looked all over for this and even searched the computer help and support but can not find any thing. This is driving me insane. Can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

there is no radio control switch on a gateway laptop, theres only a Wireless switch and its a button that looks like an antenna

How do you activate a radio with a light switch?

December 31, 2009 - 7:37 pm 7 Comments

This is for my bathroom. I’ve seen others do it. Once you flip the light switch, a radio (clock radio or music box) inside turns on.

if you have the switch wired to a plug outlet, plug the radio into that so when you turn on that swith, the radio comes on then you can do this. the only other way is if you plug a motion sensor in the plug, then plug the radio into that. they sell those at lowe’s or home depot, and cost anywhere from $25.00 to $50.00. hope this helps.

How do you replace a car radio back the factory radio?

December 29, 2009 - 12:16 am 2 Comments

I just bought a 2001 Nissan Maxima GXE and the car has a Alpine radio that someone replaced the factory radio with. I would rather the factory radio in my car. Where could I find a factory radio to buy and is it expensive to have it replaced back to the factory radio?

What is the best available radio for good AM reception?

December 23, 2009 - 2:36 pm 1 Comment

I live in California and need a good radio that gets AM stations clearly. This radio is to be used at home.

I would suggest the GE SuperRadio III. Amazon has them and I’ve occasionally seen them in RadioShack Stores. They don’t look like much, but having used one in the past and comparing it’s performence to my top-quality Sangean ATS-909 reciever. The AM reception is unreal..picking up stations hundred of miles away with little effort and using the internal antenna (milage varies on location)

They can be had for about $45. http://www.amazon.com/7-2887-Superadio-III-Portable-Radio/dp/B00000J061

How are light waves and radio waves formed? What is the differance in the two?

December 21, 2009 - 12:02 am 4 Comments

I’ve heard that they’re the same thing? Why can we not see radio waves? Absence of photons? If that’s correct, why are photons absent in radio waves? Or am I just totally gone beyond the possibility of safe return?

These are formed by an acceleration of electromagnetic charge. electrical fields create magnetic fields etc. so a self propagating wave is formed. Yes, they basically are the same thing. All electromagnetic waves are essentially the same except in frequency, and hence wavelength. The strength is based on frequency.

You can’t see radio waves, just as you cannot detect some very low pitched sounds, under 40Hz and high pitched over about 20000Hz.
