When you listen to an online radio how much kilos are downloaded?

February 16, 2010 - 3:25 pm 4 Comments

The service guy from my internet provider said that online radios consume bandstream.
So, say in one hour of listening to an online radio, how much is that? Because my network has a limit (80 giga) on how much to download.
80 giga per month and is already full

I wouldn’t try it at all. The tiny kernel you download will say something like 24 kb in total. But the stream may be 30kb or more a second! It would add up in a few hours.

How can you burn music from online radio to cd?

Hi Folks, Is it possible to listen to Itunes online radio and have some software (preferrable free download) extract the audio and then later burn to disk? Thought wave editor (through Nero) might have worked but clashes with Adobe ( I think). Also thought that if a lead came from line out and back into mic or something, that it might work. What software? Jst want some of this Great Itunes radio on disk for my car!

What you need is Audacity (it’s free).

This link will show you how to set the program up, it will work for all online radio and other things like youtube not just myspace.

Motorola Droid: How to listen to live online radio that requires Windows Media Player?

February 7, 2010 - 2:19 am 1 Comment

I just got my Motorola Droid phone from Verizon a couple of days ago.

I’ve been trying to listen to this online radio station from Greece.
Here’s the link: http://live24.gr/radio/derti.jsp

I can listen to it just fine on my desktop computer (since it has Windows Media Player) but no luck on my Droid phone… =/

Does anyone know what to do?
Thanks in advance.

Sorry, you can’t use Windows Media on an android phone, but you can ge the pandora radio app. it’s better.

How can I start an online radio station?

What is the best resource for starting an online radio station?

I started one a year ago, but I’m about to let the license expire. There are a LOT of legal issues going on right now that make running a station less and less attractive. If you’re looking to start a station whose format is talk, you might have better fortune. The RIAA is trying to squeeze a lot of money out of broadcasters (for which they are already paying royalties per play) than they are already getting. There is talk of a 200% or better markup in the months to come.

To configure your PC, you’ll also need to know a little about TCP/IP.

Your best bet for starting is to try Live365 or Shoutcast. They’re the best free resources for aspiring broadcasters.

Good luck.
