How many people have called their congressman about saving internet radio?

January 26, 2010 - 2:26 pm 5 Comments

the RIAA is trying to shut down internet radio. They want to increase royalty fees by ridiculous proportions, forcing all small- and mid- size internet radio companies into bankruptcy. We need to fight this. We can’t let lobbyists in Washington ruin the innovation and creativity that internet radio sites like Pandora.com (which, by the way, I highly recommend) have brought to radio. Please go to www.savenetradio.org to understand a bit more. Please, please help with this. I think that many of you will agree that internet radio deserves a future brighter than that if regular broadcast radio, which is totally saturated with commercials, plays only the mainstream artists and genres, and has no flexibility at all in what programming they offer. Again, I can’t stress this enough. If WE don’t fight the moneymongers throwing their weight around in Washington, we’ll end up with another watered-down, non-creative, factory-produced part of the entertainment industry. Nobody wants that.

Don’t call your congressman, call the RIAA, or BMI or Ascap and demand that they lower their ridiculous royalties. Their actions amount to price gouging (we’ll just pretend they haven’t been doing that since the inception of the music industry).

we’ll end up with another watered-down, non-creative, factory-produced part of the entertainment industry.

Not necessarily, artists represented by BMI and Ascap, as well as any other companies demanding these royalties simply won’t get played. There’s lots of quality music not bound by red tape and contracts for radio play, I think it’s time we boycott the industry and give them a chance.

What is the best software to install so that you can record internet radio?

January 22, 2010 - 8:04 am 2 Comments

I installed Roxio RecordNow9 Music Lab and was only able to record internet radio about 3 times. Now I am unable to adjust the volume which means that there is no recording because the volume adjustment does not work anymore in the software. I was told by a tech at Fry’s that the software does not allow you to record internet radio anymore. Is this correct? Please advise.
Thanks,
Busdriver

What are (if any) the German internet radio stations that play modern pop songs mainly in German?

January 20, 2010 - 3:23 am 2 Comments

I am trying to find German music. I want to experience something new, and besides I studied German language in college; I liked it. I went through German/Austrian internet radio stations and surprisingly – there are basically no (modern) songs in German!!! You must listen half an hour to music in English until you finally get to hear something in German, and that’s on the so called German radio stations! I hope I didn’t find the right ones, otherwise I could only feel sad for such situation.

that’s pretty much how it is in europe – songs are mostly in english and movies are mostly translations of american films. i suggest going to youtube and just looking up german music

How can I set up a Internet radio DJ Panel?

January 16, 2010 - 9:14 pm 3 Comments

How can I easily set up a online internet radio DJ Panel? I also need a good website to go with it. Could somebody tell me where I can get the code for a panel and where I can get a good website to put it in. I can pay for the radio itself so that’s all sorted.

Live 365 or soutcast are the 2 most popular radio broadcast sites. They provide ll the software apart from a media player to play broadcast with. If you are looking for a good broadcast media player I would suggest Sam which will also allow you add radio jingles to your playlist with easy access for playback

Are there any internet radio stations that have young presenters?

December 31, 2009 - 7:37 pm 2 Comments

I would like to present on an internet radio for experience as I wish to be a radio presenter for a future career.

I’m 14 at the moment, does anyone know any internet stations that recruit young presenters and let you present from home?

Why don’t you setup your own Internet radio talk show or something
best thing to do is arrange it with your school’s music department I’m sure they’ll help, in regards to internet stations hiring you to present from home – No! doesn’t exist I’m afraid, there may be illegal or unregistered or private ones that do, but that’s through IRC clients etc…

Either set it up on your own (Which will be great on your CV) , or wait until you’re sixteen to look for an apprenticeship with a station such as Kiss, or something

Employment regulations just wont allow you to be a presenter at fourteen for main stations too**

If I were to start my own internet radio station without the intent of profit, do I need to pay royalty?

December 21, 2009 - 12:01 am 4 Comments

I’m thinking of starting an internet radio station; just a personal one and I won’t making money with it. I’ve searched and all I see are laws on profit-making stations and non-profit organizations, still run by some company/school. If an individual like me were to do it, is there any royalty payment needed?

Yes Most Definitely You Would.

How do I set up an internet radio station?

December 18, 2009 - 5:13 am 1 Comment

Hello, I need help. I want to set up an internet radio station. It’s okay if I have to pay for it. I do have experience being a DJ on one before but it was a long time ago.

Here’s what I want:

To talk as well as play music, not just one or the other
Nobody having to download a client or plug-in to use it.

Please let me know if anybody knows of something!

You can easily do it with WinAmp, VLC, and DJ apps such as virtual DJ. The last one has its own mixing tables on which you can do live mixes and play them on the radio, talk and much more.

Have fun
