What cd collection did/do radio stations used and where can I find one?

November 16, 2010 - 2:24 pm 1 Comment

I am volunteering at a local radio station and will be starting a hip hop program but I do not have a "clean" collection of music. I’ve done work at a radio station in the past where it had a CD library of all the new and old song. New CDs came weekly. Now with the digital age the radio stations probably don’t use many CDs so where can I get my hands on one of those collections or a distributor’s clean collection of hip hop?

You could try Ebay but CD shops don’t have them, and they won’t sell to the public.
Isn’t "clean hip-hop" a contradiction in terms?

How can i get a radio music licence for a small online radio station. I would like a guide price if possible and places to go get the licence. Thanks Very much.

If it’s ONLY an online(internet) service ( i.e. not broadcasting via a radio antenna ) then you wont need a licence.

How long is the delay when listening to Internet Radio?

November 10, 2010 - 7:21 pm 3 Comments

I’m debating between buying a SqueezeBox Internet Radio or a regular am/fm radio (I like both). But I’m wondering how long the lag/delay is when listening to Internet radio? I don’t like too long of a delay. Thanks.

Internet radio is less than an actual radio, radio is 25 seconds now and internet is only 15 seconds.

How do I open a low power radio station, and what are the rules?

November 8, 2010 - 12:38 am 2 Comments

I live in a small town and am in high school. None of the radio stations around here have any variety, so a friend and I wanted to start our own radio station that plays music. I’ve been doing my research on LPFM stations, but every single site I go to says something different. Can anybody tell me what are the real rules and regulations, or if there is a better way to do a small scale radio station and even make a few bucks? Thanks!

The VERY first thing you need to do is go to google and type in "fcc low power radio station"

Then check what’s required for your state by adding the state’s name into the google search.

Using your local SBA and SCORE offices, they mentor new entrepreneurs, is key too. They’re found in your phone book and are free.

How does internet radio get its programme lists?

November 5, 2010 - 8:35 am 1 Comment

I have a Claris Magibox and use the internet radio function a lot. Programmes are often missing from their programme lists ( especially on BBC R7) These are on the BBC lists on my PC via I Player. How and who adds these lists

Hi there.
There is a company that has the contract to transmit all such information, although I believe that the BBC does its own. The software in the box accepts the info and translates from the digital signal.
the best way to refresh a channels playlist is to select the channel itself and wait – usually does the trick quite quickly.
Cheers, Steve.

Whenever I go on a long trip, I like to take my radio with me, to see what radio stations I can pick up. If I find one I really like, I write it down, and add it to my list of stations I listen to on the internet. I mostly like classic rock stations. What are some of your favorite stations to listen to? Please inclede call letters, and location of the station.

Radio National 621 AM Newhaven and surrounding area Australia.

What are some popular commercial radio stations in California?

October 29, 2010 - 9:14 am 2 Comments

I’d like to listen to a bit of internet radio and want to listen to some popular commercial radio stations in the US. Thought I’d start off with L.A or California as a whole but have no idea which stations have the most listeners.
Can anyone help? I’m after general / pop stations, the kind Mr Average has his car radio tuned into.

Thanks!

How do i install Pandora Internet radio onto the Blackberry 8530 from metro pcs?

October 26, 2010 - 4:16 pm 2 Comments

So i just bought the Blackberry 8530 phone from metro pcs, and from what i hear is that even with that carrier im still able to download Pandora Internet radio on that phone. The only thing is that i don’t know where i can download it from or how to download it to my phone.

To download Pandora from Blackberry App World click this link…
http://appworld.blackberry.com/webstore/content/872?lang=en

On that page click the Download button and you will be prompted for an email address that has been integrated with your device (one you receive email on your device from). You will then be emailed the Blackberry App World URL to download the app OTA (Over The Air) directly to your device.

Or, if you already have Blackberry App World on your phone, open the BB App World app and select search at the bottom, type in Pandora and it will take you to the mobile version of the same page indicated in the URL above.

Hope this helps!
