can i download live radio onto an mp3 file?

February 28, 2010 - 4:28 pm 1 Comment

i was wondering if i could get an mp3 file that streams live radio of course you need internet but if i can get an mp3 that streams live radio how would i get it?

An .mp3 is a file, and cannot stream anything. You could however get a program that could stream live radio, or even stream live by using an internet application. If there is a specific station you want to listen to, the radio station’s website probably has a way to listen to their broadcasts.

With the coalescence of internet, TV, radio, will we still have LIVE TV and Radio broadcasts other than news?

There is a lot of live radio that can still be heard, and there are a few live non-news TV shows. But if you look at the trend, these things seem to be slowly disappearing.

Why do you think we see this trend? And will it continue?

I think you are correct. The electronic bundle is separating the public with a one world view.

How does one get into radio voice over work?

February 24, 2010 - 7:34 pm 4 Comments

I hear people on the radio & think it’s a total possibility for me. I’m a master at voices, sounds & accents – & I think my city is big enough that there might be some opportunities through local businesses who have radio ads.

Yet…I have NO CLUE on how to get started. Anyone?

Put together a cd of you voicing a commercial or public service announcement (be creative) showing off your different voices, accents etc. Make the cd 2 or 3 minutes long if you can but no longer than that. Next check around your city for (legit) recording studios ask if they do television or radio commercials and give them a copy of your cd. Get cards made so you can pass them out as you network or meet people in all types of business (also radio/tv stations) that may want you to voice their commercial or refer you to other business’.
Recording studios do this type of work all the time and they are your best bet for finding(paid) work and they will let you know if you actually have the voice for this type of work or not.
Good Luck!

How do the radio stations get their songs?

February 24, 2010 - 7:33 pm 2 Comments

Nowadays I know all the radio stations use computers, I just want to know the name of the service they use and how much it charges!!! THANKS!

Most use Broadcast Programming, Play MPE, or TM Century. None of those companies will sell to anyone except radio stations. Many record labels send CD’s or MP3’s directly to stations.
There are companies that will sell you a hard drive pre-loaded with an entire music library…but again only radio stations can buy them.

Is it illegal to listen in on police radios?

February 22, 2010 - 5:14 pm 6 Comments

I Have an iPod Touch and I have downloaded the application A+ Police Radio Free, and it allows me to listen to police radios in different countries like New Zealand and the U.S.A., and also Australia. It let’s me listen in four Australian States, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and New South Wales. I don’t want to get caught listening to this if it’s illegal, so could you please help me?

It really depends on your local laws. Some places it is totally legal, others totally illegal, other fine at home, but not in your car or outside your home.

what do i need to get a career in the television/radio music industry?

February 22, 2010 - 5:13 pm 1 Comment

I’m 16 and want to become a radio presenter on something similar one day. What sort of course should i apply for at university. I already play a range of instruments and am quite good at using music software, so what should i study at uni?

you don’t need university. what you want to do is talk to the station manager of a radio station, get on the late night shift, make tapes of yourself, this will most likely be a non paid internship, BUT you will be doing what you wanna do and learning the industry, after a while and once your good at chatting with the callers and playing the music and running a show basically, start talking with the manager to switch shifts, or move to another station wanting a new daytime host, it doesn’t matter morning noon or night, cause that gig pays and you will have the chance to get a bigger audience at that point.. this is the easiest way, I hear many DJs tell people that a broadcasting degree is not needed for radio at all..just a personality.

also, for TV basically same thing, intern for a while and while there network and learn the industry, and then you move up from there. you won’t have to pay for a degree and you will already be in the industry you want.. during breaks talk to the musicians about their music, ask to jam with them, also, talk to the camera men, see if they will show you how to work the camera and offer tips…take full advantage, think of it as a non paid apprenticeship.. maybe one day a musician cannot make it to the studio and you might be able to save the day for them.. or get on gag skits like Ross the Intern who is now a TV personality for other networks and shows (he started interning on Jay Leno) and there have been other interns that have gotten their breaks.. it is all there for the taking, and it is all free at first.
