How much are front row tickets at Radio City Music Hall?

July 2, 2010 - 9:35 am 2 Comments

I am going to see the gaslight anthem on the 30th of september at Radio City Music Hall. I am wondering what the price range usually is for the best seats and where those best seats are, as I have never been to New York.

Usually in theaters, orchestra is the best section, towards the center and back about 10 rows at least. You don’t want to be too close or you view is more limited. I grew up in a family who worked in the theater entertainment and that’s what we always did. I’ve been to RCMH but needed to refresh my memory and tried the seating chart on the site, but it was down for maintenance. I think you are safe choosing mid-section orchestra.

If you go to the site, you can see for yourself – choose best seats available and see what they’ve got. And the tickets are listed at $35 with no other prices showing, so I can’t be sure.

June 30, 2010 - 12:17 am 3 Comments

I don’t want to use something like live365, shoutcast, or anything else. I want to create a professional internet radio website. Do I need a web hosting, and what software do I need?

Yes. You will need a hosting.

Is there an fm radio app that doesnt have to be connected to the internet?

June 24, 2010 - 4:30 pm 2 Comments

Okay so the ipod touch doesnt have fm radio…but i would really like it. but you need internet connection. Im not gonna sit on my couch and listen to the radio…i have a stereo for that. is there any apps or whatever that doesnt need an internet connection?

I’ve used Replay Radio (now Replay AV) on my Windows computer for years to record streaming (over the Internet) radio programs, it will automatically if you choose convert to MP3s and import into iTunes. From there you just sync to your Touch. There are free recording solutions, but Replay doesn’t cost that much and has lots of nice options, including links to many many radio programs.

Also some radio programs are put up on iTunes as podcasts. The really nice thing about that is they usually remove the commercials, the most annoying thing about commercial radio.

Whats a free internet radio station that plays the techno/rap remixes and music I hear at clubs?

June 24, 2010 - 4:29 pm 1 Comment

I like the music I hear out at big clubs that has been remixed slightly with some techno. I’m looking for a radio station that’s free on the internet playing whats current.

BPM on XM is petty good but I’m looking for stuff that’s a bit more mainstream.

Try Pandora! :)

How can I find out if my radio input to my subwoofers is working?

June 21, 2010 - 1:44 am 2 Comments

I recently installed subwoofers in my truck but can’t get them to play off of my radio. I can plug an ipod to the amp and the Subwoofers will play off of the ipod. But if I connect the rca jacks from my amp to the radio deck input, the subwoofers wont play. Need help please.

Side Note: My radio works, just need help with the input and output

Connecting the amp inputs to a radio deck input won’t work. You have to connect a preamp OUTPUT from the radio deck to the amp inputs.

Most aftermarket head units include at least one set of RCA preamp outputs. Stock receivers don’t usually have preamp outputs. The solution is to "tap" the speaker outputs (most often rear speakers) and connect them to a line output converter (LOC) and use RCA cables from the LOC to your amp inputs.

Here’s an excellent 2-channel LOC with amp remote turn-on:

What is the best way to start an internet radio station?

June 21, 2010 - 1:44 am 2 Comments

I want to start a professional internet radio station. Not a radio show, but a radio station. I also want to do a VISUAL stream of some of the radio shows on the radio station. My question is what program/website service/device should I use to make the actual internet radio STATION on the audio side of the radio station and the visual side of the radio station?

Shoutcast ( http://www.shoutcast.com/download) looks to be the easiest way to start an Internet radio station, the software is free and there are different host options. People can search and find you from the Shoutcast.com homepage or from Winamp.

The TV side looks like it is beta, see below.

What equiment do I need to set up a high power fm radio transmitter?

June 18, 2010 - 1:37 am 1 Comment

Let’s say 3000w or more…
I have aquired a frequency in my town (In Honduras) and I don’t know anything about fm radio equipment. Can someone direct me as to what equipment I need for the broadcast room, trasmitter, antenna, etc.?
This will be a Christian radio station and I want to cover about 300 miles radious, in a mountainous area…
Tahnks and Blessings,

Do you have a construction permit to build the station?

If so, it will specify the power level.

I would recommend this site:

http://www.ccbroadcasters.com

This is a site for Christian LPFMs, but you will be able to get an idea of what you need from the equipment lists they have. You will be looking at a transmitter at higher power levels than LPFMs.

You will need a broadcast console (mixer) and components for audio sources, such as computers, CD players and such. Most Christian stations have a satellite dish and receiver for bringing in Christian programming from networks.

You will need an engineer. The voltage on this size transmitter is dangerous and can be fatal if you don’t know what you are doing. The FM set-ups genarally require a device known as an FM exciter, and an audio chain for processing and monitoring.

Best wishes to you!

What are some of the best and most diverse online music radio websites?

I’m looking for a few of the best sites that play a wide variety of good music. I want a lot of underground and indie stuff. Something that will introduce me to new awesome music and play some great stuff I already know.

I use Pandora and NPR already and I was wondering if there are any gems out there waiting to be discovered.
