When do you need to have a radio license when using 2-way radios?

October 28, 2009 - 4:05 am 2 Comments

I am looking at buying some two way radios, but I have heard that certain distance-capable radios require a license to use. What is the distance before you need to apply for one?

Those hand held jobs you get at Bass Pro shops or Walmart don’t get enough range to require a license, but if you get one capable of using Morse code or talk across the country, you need a "Ham license" which is easier to get now than 40 years ago. Good luck.

Why does my car radio go out at random times?

October 28, 2009 - 4:05 am 4 Comments

I know this is probably a stupid question, but at times, my car radio goes out and all I hear is static, on every station. Nothing is wrong with the antenna, or so it seems. I don’t know if it is the radio itself or the antenna, more likely the antenna, but what would be wrong? Anyone else share a similar issue? Any help is appreciated! Thanks.
Nope, I’ll lose the single in open areas, just random areas. There aren’t any tunnels or bridges I go under in my area anyways.

Did you ever take the radio out of the dash board? The connection from the antenna may not be completely plug into the back of the radio. Or there might be a short in the antenna wire itself.

Why the national radio stations have a range of FM frequencies?

October 28, 2009 - 4:05 am 3 Comments

For example, BBC radio 1 is ranging from 97 – 99 FM, radio 2 is 88 – 91 FM, classic FM is 100 – 102 FM, etc. Why couldn’t these stations broadcast in only one frequency nationally (for example, just FM 98.8 for radio 1 throughtout the UK) and then free up the rest of the frequency range to other radio stations?

They probably do only broadcast in one frequency, your radio is sensitive enough to pick them up over several frequencies. If you are really close to a really powerful signal, it could override low power signals.

why is my laptop not streaming radio stations?

October 28, 2009 - 4:05 am 2 Comments

suddenly my laptop just stopped playin online radio streams (smash hits inpaticular) i cant remember installing any software which could have messed it up. ive updated sound driver, got codcs, updsated browser, used a diff browser.
i did delete upper and lowerpass filter in the registry, this was because nero wouldnt show up my cd drive.

any suggestions?

well when something comes out of the blue like this i would like to assume its some sort of spyware malware virus you know. sometimes software you dont think will mess anyhting up may give somehting a ninja kick in the face. because just a few days ago i was installing comodo and i cancelled the installed and it goofed up my wireless adaptor i had to reformat over that.

i dont know of any reason for it to just stop working sorry. maybe the website changed their design and it requires a differnt/upgraded plugin to use it?

run some scans if you can

How can I take photos in Radio City Music Hall?

October 28, 2009 - 4:05 am 1 Comment

I want to take photos of the Paul and Ringo reunion at The Radio City Music Hall? I know they probably won’t allow it. Any suggestions on taking photos?

I will be seated in the 1st Mezz area. Any suggestions on a zoom Lens for a Canon Rebel Xt?

Thanks

Various company’s made digi-binocs.. These looked like regular binoculars but had a digital camera built in. As you looked thru them, you could also snap pics..

and again…

Results 1 – 10 of about 9,170,000 for digital camera binoculars. (0.31 seconds).

I have borrowed them in the past from places I used to work and they have saved the day in getting pics where cameras were NEVER allowed. Some sporting events. Concerts. Adult events.. I even had security look at them asking about the ‘lens in the middle’ and the buttons and stuff and I told them their my laser range finder binocs for "hunting and / or shooting" and they said, ahh, OK, go on in..

Necessity is the Mother of Invention. They also make and sell video cameras mounted it the frame of glasses too……. Hmmmmm??!

Results 1 – 10 of about 3,490,000 for cameras in glasses. (0.36 seconds).

Today, you just never know who, what, when, where or how you may find yourself in pictures or on someone’s web site..

Go forth, be stealthy, but be careful.. haha
