Hi, I’m wondering what is the program called to make jingles for radios?
Its ok, i if i have to pay. I’m just wondering what the program is called?

"The" program? There’s only ONE program that can do audio editing now? I’m intrigued by this new information you have, since I can think of at least five audio manipulation tools that don’t seem to have mysteriously disappeared yet.

What is the maximum power output for an FM radio transmitter?

What is the FCC rule, without a license, in the US, the maximum power output for an (88-108MHz) FM radio transmitter?

In simple terms, your limit would be 100 mw. or 1 tenth of a watt….(That might get you a few hundred feet..with a good antenna, a bit more.)

How can I save/record/download online streaming songs, videos or online radio.. please help?

Please tell me how to save streaming radio audio and video from youtube or metacafe or kill some time etc.

This is what I do: I use Firefox 3, with an add-on called Video DownloadHelper (you can get it from downloadhelper.net).

This lovely little program lets you know when there is an embedded media (video/audio) file in the page you’re viewing, and then download it for you, when you click on an icon on the toolbar. You can then use a suitable viewer program to view the downloaded file.

Video DownloadHelper also lets you search for videos from several sites, as an independent program.

Radio/music websites that I can listen to at work?

There are some blocks in my work computer that dont allow me to listen to some radio/music sites like yahoo music. What are some alternatives?

Bring some CDs full of MP3s and listen to that. Or get a small radio to keep by your desk. Plug in a cable between the radio’s headphones jack and your PCs Line In jack. That way you can listen to the radio thru your PCs speakers. Speakers on small radios usually are junk.

How much does a promotion assistant for a radio station make?

October 30, 2009 - 12:22 pm 1 Comment

A girl I know works as a promotion assistant for a radio station and wanted to recommend me a job for that same position as well and she said she makes about $25 an hour. Does this sound right? I thought that radio station jobs do not pay well.
Because radio station jobs seem like they don’t pay well my POINT of this question was to ask if anyone else who is in the industry or knows about it can tell me if getting paid 25 dollars an hour to start sounds reasonable. Thank you so much!

Any job in entertainment will be hard to get. Starting out you will be paid little more than minimum especially at a small station.

What does 42 and saving internet radio have to do with one another?

October 30, 2009 - 12:22 pm 1 Comment

The other day I posed a question, what are the official numbers of people getting involved in saving internet radio.

My question was misunderstood. The first responce was the number 42. Was this a joke? Then I receieved another answer from someone else who also said 42.

I put the question to a community vote and the community selected the answer "42" as the best answer. Huh?

I thought it was a joke and to be honest I still do. However this may actually mean something. So what does the number 42 mean? Please explain.

Is this the number of vote its needs in congress, something else, or just someone being a smartass! :)

Thanks for the help.

According to the "Hitch Hiker’s Guide To The Galaxy" 42 is the answer for everything.

How can I pick up radio stations on my Police Scanner?

October 30, 2009 - 12:22 pm 3 Comments

I have a Radio Shack Pro-2018 scanner, and I was wondering if, and how I could pick up radio stations on it.
Where could I find a list of of conversions? Or is it simple, like if I want 107.7 then I put 107,700 in my scanner?

You want to listen to an FM broadcast station (like KABC hits 95)?
Forget it unless the scanner was specifically designed for this (I’ve not seen one that was). Why?

A police scanner is meant (primarily) to receive FM signals with a 5 KHz deviation, some (especially older ones) will accept up to a 15 KHz deviation. Anything more and the discriminator (the circuit that retrieves the audio from the signal) will clip and distort.

An FM broadcast station uses a 75 KHz deviation, impossible to receive on the scanner because it saturates the detector causing clipping and distortion, also the filter in the scanner would not pass the signal thru when it was being modulated because it would be constantly going outside the passband of the filter.

It would be the equivalent of turning your hearing aid up all the way and then standing directly in front of the speaker at a rock concert. It is sure to be loud but so distorted you wont understand a thing.

No harm in trying I suppose. Instead of programming in something like 155.805 for the local PD, you would put in 105.700 for FM 105.7 but I’ll bet that the scanner will return an error if you do.
