How do you activate a radio with a light switch?

December 31, 2009 - 7:37 pm 7 Comments

This is for my bathroom. I’ve seen others do it. Once you flip the light switch, a radio (clock radio or music box) inside turns on.

if you have the switch wired to a plug outlet, plug the radio into that so when you turn on that swith, the radio comes on then you can do this. the only other way is if you plug a motion sensor in the plug, then plug the radio into that. they sell those at lowe’s or home depot, and cost anywhere from $25.00 to $50.00. hope this helps.

I mean like napster or something like that where i can type in an artist or song name and listen to it.

Well, you can always go to youtube. They have a lot of songs for the most part. Also, I download my music for free from a site called dilandau.com. There, before you download any of the songs, you can listen the full song.

How do you record music from your radio to the computer?

How do you record music from your radio to the computer? My internet is to slow do download music from itunes it would take for ever.

The way I do it is to run the radio’s headphone jack into my sound card’s mic jack, open up Cakewalk or Audacity, and hit "record." Then, when I’m done, I convert the resulting WAV to an MP3.

What should I ask a radio station about doing a commercial for a store?

What should I ask a radio station about doing a commercial for a store?
I have a meeting in the morning with a radio commercial manager what kind of questions should I ask him?
I have written a jingle and I am looking to maybe have some kind of advertising campain for the store i manage but i really havent done anything like this before, help me!

Ask about package discounts for bulk play and time slots.
They should know how to help you come up with an effective ad.
You might save a bit of $$ if you have your own "singers" to create the ad. Do have it blocked out befor you book studio time to record it. Also remember you want to have time limits. 15 seconds and 30 seconds and even 10 seconds are common.
You want to be able to have a longer and a shorter one so you can just hit the highlights with the short one and listeners will remember the details from the longer version.
You may need to buy more time at first to get noticed.
Take your time and don’t be pressured into anything you don’t have time to think about. Know what you want and they will try to give you all they can coz they need to keep you happy to keep your business.

Are there any internet radio stations that have young presenters?

December 31, 2009 - 7:37 pm 2 Comments

I would like to present on an internet radio for experience as I wish to be a radio presenter for a future career.

I’m 14 at the moment, does anyone know any internet stations that recruit young presenters and let you present from home?

Why don’t you setup your own Internet radio talk show or something
best thing to do is arrange it with your school’s music department I’m sure they’ll help, in regards to internet stations hiring you to present from home – No! doesn’t exist I’m afraid, there may be illegal or unregistered or private ones that do, but that’s through IRC clients etc…

Either set it up on your own (Which will be great on your CV) , or wait until you’re sixteen to look for an apprenticeship with a station such as Kiss, or something

Employment regulations just wont allow you to be a presenter at fourteen for main stations too**
