What is the tone on railroad radios used when the train calls the dispatcher?

What is the tone on railroad radios used for when the train calls the dispatcher? Also are train crews required to use radio pro-words (over, out, roger) when transmitting? Please let me know thank you.

They are the same tones you’d hear on a touch tone phone. We use different keypad numbers for different dispatchers. When you tone a dispatcher it lights up a light on his radio control box so he knows someone wants to talk to him. Some dispatchers might have 20 or 30 radio towers they use so they can’t monitor them all at the same time. His control box is a touch screen. When we tone him up all he has to do is touch the screen to activate the radio the tone was received on. And yes the FRA says we have to use certain radio procedures. We are always supposed to start a radio transmission with our train id such as the UP 4628 West.We don’t use roger and wilco and things like that but they do want to hear over and out used.

What are the best seats at the Radio City Music Hall venue in NYC?

July 11, 2010 - 8:14 am 2 Comments

I am buying tickets tomorrow for a performance at the Radio City Music Hall. I am seeing my favorite band so I want really really good seats. What is the best section? Is it better to be further back but in the center or closer up and to the side? Please help me out if you’ve been to performances at this venue before.

You can buy Radio City Music Hall online at TicketFront.com . They have best seats at the most reasonable price.

Why is Christian radio music so awful?

July 8, 2010 - 7:45 am 11 Comments

Let’s put the lyrics aside. That is not what I am referring to in this question. But I am a musician/composer/songwriter and when I hear Christian music, I find creativity in the musicianship and song structure to be severely lacking. The melodies often don’t span over an octave with a few but very basic chord changes. Where is the musical creativity? Christian music has to be the most boring and uninspiring music on the radio! Does anyone agree?

LOL I have heard this complaint from so many times from other christians. And as a christian I agree!

How to get surround sound using internet radio?

July 5, 2010 - 10:28 am 1 Comment

I have a logitech 5.1 surround sound system, it works good with like WMP or any Desktop music player, but with like pandora, yahoo music etc. it only puts sound through the two main speakers and sub, how do i get full surround using internet radio programs?

I don’t believe any of them send a surround signal and even if they did it wouldn’t be the best quality compared to an in-home source like a DVD or CD. Internet radio has come a long way but I don’t think they’ve made it to that level yet.

How much are front row tickets at Radio City Music Hall?

July 2, 2010 - 9:35 am 2 Comments

I am going to see the gaslight anthem on the 30th of september at Radio City Music Hall. I am wondering what the price range usually is for the best seats and where those best seats are, as I have never been to New York.

Usually in theaters, orchestra is the best section, towards the center and back about 10 rows at least. You don’t want to be too close or you view is more limited. I grew up in a family who worked in the theater entertainment and that’s what we always did. I’ve been to RCMH but needed to refresh my memory and tried the seating chart on the site, but it was down for maintenance. I think you are safe choosing mid-section orchestra.

If you go to the site, you can see for yourself – choose best seats available and see what they’ve got. And the tickets are listed at $35 with no other prices showing, so I can’t be sure.
